Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Priyansh Arya joined star cricketer Virat Kohli in an elite list on Tuesday and became only the fourth batter in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to hit a maximum on the first ball of an IPL match.
Priyansh would go on to score an exceptional 39-ball century against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Maharaj Yadavindra Singh stadium in Mohali as the Punjab-based franchise posted a humongous total of 219/6 in 20 overs.
The left-handed batter from Delhi was signed for INR 3.80 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction held last year in Jeddah. Priyansh began his innings with a huge six to CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed over the third-man region.
The 2 other players in the elite list are Naman Ojha and Phil Salt. Naman was the first player in IPL history to achieve the feat and did so back in the 2009 season of IPL. Kohli joined him on the list in the 2019 season and Salt achieved the impressive in the 2024 season.
Priyansh also made his way into several other lists with the century against CSK. He became the fifth fastest centurion in IPL history and the second-fastest Indian to reach the milestone with only Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball ton pipping him.
The young batter also became just the 7th uncapped Indian player to score a century in the league, joining the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar.
