Pakistan Super League (PSL) ambassador Rameez Raja who is also the part of the tournament’s commentary team recently trolled Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal, making a joke out of his habit of dropping catches. The second season of the famous T20 tournament has seen some smart innovations. In one of the segments called ‘Silly Point’, post match, spectators are called to the ground and asked to compete with Rameez. The rules of the competition involve cracking silly jokes along with Rameez and the one to burst into laughter first is out.

It was during one of the shows that Rameez trolled Kamran in front of a lady competitor who burst into laughter the moment she heard it. Rameez asked her about what might be Kamran Akmal s favourite pickup line, to which, he himself answered, Can I drop you somewhere ?

Kamran has been heavily criticised in the past for his shoddy glovework. Over the last many years, he has dropped several catches during crucial junctures which earned him a nickname of ‘butter fingers’ among fans. . It all started in a Test match against Australia in 2009-10 at Sydney, where he dropped 4 catches in one session. He dropped Mike Hussey thrice. Hussey went on to score a century that led Australia to a win. His poor form continued during Pakistan s tour to England he dropped three easy catches and missed a stumping. In the next match, Akmal took a superb catch of Kevin Pietersen before dropping a catch on the very next ball off Paul Collingwood. In the first innings of the same game, Akmal dropped a catch of Eoin Morgan when he was on 23 who then went on to score 130.

His most notable drops however remains of Ross Taylor in the World Cup 2011. Taylor went on to slam a match-defining century.

Akmal who is out of the international squad right now is eyeing his comeback in the side. Playing for the Pesahwar Zalmi, he got off to a great start scoring 88 in the opening game against former champions Islamabad United but despite that, he ended in a losing cause. But since that, he has only managed scores of 0 and 3 in the next two games. Kamran due to streaks of dismal record with both gloves and bat was left out of the team and Pakistan got a great replacement in form of Sarfraz Ahmed who is captaining Pakistan in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
