Punjab made 123 for two in 40 overs at close on the second day in reply to Tamil Nadu’s first innings total of 348 all out in 141.5 overs in their Group-C Under-19 cricket league match for the Cooch Behar Trophy on Friday.
Punjab’s Ankit Pursarthy 31 (100b, 4×4) and Sachin Sohal 63 (114b, 9×4) were at the crease with an unbeaten 94-run third wicket stand when stumps were drawn.
Earlier, starting at the overnight score of 247 for six in 90 overs, Tamil Nadu added 101 runs to their tally with J Koushik chipping in with 85 runs (249b, 11×4). P S Nirmalkumar also batted well scoring 25 (33b, 4×4).
Punjab’s medium pacer Kamal Passi (4/56) and off-spinner Gurkirat Singh (4/112) shared eight wickets between them while left-arm spinner Rahul Kanbojia claimed two victims for 100 runs.
