The Pakistan Cup 2016 is scheduled to kick off on April 19, 2016. It is a one-day tournament between 5 teams – Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad. Sarfaraz Ahmed (Sindh), Shoaib Malik (Punjab), Younis Khan (Khyber Pankhtunkhwa), Azhar Ali (Balochistan) and Misbah-ul-Haq (Islamabad) would be leading the teams respectively. Each teams would play 4 games each, with the top two qualifying for the final. The tournament will commence on May 1. It is a similar tournament to Pakistan Cricket League, which is a T20 tournament. The tournament will aim to boost the young talents by giving them the chance to play alongside full internationals. The Pubjab side will be led by the experienced Shoaib Malik, and includes 14 players in the squad. Their first game will be against Balochistan, which will be followed by a fixture against Khyber Pankhtunkhwa. They will next face Islamabad before their group matches ends with a game against Sindh. The Punjab side also have the experienced Salman Butt in their team. They will be coached by Muhtasheem Rashid.
