Quick-fire fifties by Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran has made way for Lucknow Super Giant (LSG) to secure a victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in their home ground.
LSG had won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Coming to bat, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan opened the innings for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), ad gave the team a solid start as the team has posted 54 runs in the powerplay itself. The opening duo was constantly hitting controlled shots while rotating strikes at a regular rate.
Shubman Gill played brilliantly, completing his fifty by the 9th over. The runs were coming at a constant rate of over 10, as the team had posted 103 runs by the time half innings was complete. right after that, Sai Sudarshan followed Gill, as he also completed his half century.
The first wicket that went down was of Shubman Gill in the 13th over, followed by the dismissal of Sai Sudarshan in the very next over. Till Shubman and Sudarshan were on the pitch, the team was going at a constant pace. After their dismissal, the team saw wickets falling at a constant rate. The innings ended for GT as they completed their quota of 20 overs, as they managed to post a total score of 180/6 on the board.
The innings for Lucknow Super Giants began on a decent note, as the opening pair of Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram posted a score of 61 runs by the end of powerplay. However, in the very next over, Pant got caught out.
Nicholas Pooran came in to bat after Pant, and stitched up a strong partnership with Aiden Markram. Both the batters played at a strong momentum, and even Aiden completed his half century by the time half innings was complete, LSG was at 114/1.
The LSG lineup was shook a bit after the half-inning point as Aiden Markram got dismissed in the 12th over, but that did not stop the team from progressing. Nicholas Pooran was still there along with Ayush Badoni, paying strong shots. By the time final 5 overs were remaining, Lucknow needed only 27 runs to win.
During the 16th over, Nicholas Pooran’s time on the pitch also came to an end, but LSG was at a strong point by then, and the match was almost on their hands. Eventually, Lucknow completed their chase in the final over, winning the match by 6 wickets.
