With India Under-19 winning their fourth ICC Cricket World Cup, the focus has now shifted on Rahul Dravid. The social media has gone into an overdrive, crediting and lauding the former India captain for his behind-the-scene work. Prithvi Shaw, Manjot Kalra and others thanked their coach in post-match interviews.
Dravid acknowledged the boys and said, “I am really proud of them. I think the effort they’ve put in, really proud of that. I’m proud of the support staff as well. The effort we have put in over the last 14 months has been sensational. They really deserved this, couldn’t be happier and proud for this bunch of boys.”
He further added that this current side has more memories to make and cherish in the future. He said, “It’s really nice for them and hopefully it’s a memory that they’ll cherish for a long, long time. Hopefully it’s not a memory that defines them and they will have a lot more bigger and better memories as they go on ahead in their careers.”
Dravid also spoke about the support staff and gave credit where it was due. He said, “It is (a massive lift for me and the coaching staff). One of the things coaching this team, and it gets a bit embarrassing at times because I tend to get a lot of the focus. I tend to get a lot of attention, but it is really about the quality of support staff that we have had, there have been seven-eight of us who have been together for the last 14 months, the effort they put in was incredible.”
