ENGLAND pacer Stuart Broad has announced he will retire from international cricket after the ongoing 5th Ashes Test. Broad, who has 602 Test wickets, is only behind James Anderson (690) in the list of pacers with more than 600 Test wickets.
Broad confirmed his retirement after Day 3 of the 5th Test at the Oval. The veteran said he wants to end his career on a high and Ashes being the pinnacle of cricket is the right platform to bid adieu to the game.

Meanwhile, India head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated Broad for a successful career. Dravid praised Stuart Broad and said that his partnership with James Anderson is one of the highlights of modern cricket, adding that to play over 150 Tests and take 600 wickets needs special talent.
“I think he has been a terrific bowler. His partnership with Jimmy Anderson is something that will always be remembered, said Dravid in his post-match interaction with the media.
“I think Anderson and Broad, the whole decade they played for England, really put in some fantastic performances. To take 600 wickets and to play the number of Test matches that he has, takes a special kind of cricketer,” he said.
“My best wishes to him. Just to congratulate on an absolutely fantastic career. I hope he gets to finish it off in the best possible way that he wants to,” he added.
Rahul Dravid has been under the scanner for his experiments on the Windies tour. In the first ODI, he made Rohit Sharma bat at no.7, with Virat Kohli not batting at all while the second ODI saw both Rohit and Kohli being rested. The move to rest the two veterans, however, did not go India’s way as West Indies levelled the series after beating India by six wickets in the second ODI.
