Porvorim (Goa): Dec 30, 2013

Spinner Amit Yadav‘s mesmerising spell saw him grab six wickets as Andhra were bowled out for 148 in their first innings on the opening day of the Group ‘C’ Ranji Trophy match.

Goa’s pace duo of Harshad Gadekar and Amogh Desai struck two quick blows, sending opener K S Bharat (7) and M U B Sriram (1) back to the pavillion.

Spinner Shadab Jakati and Amit Yadav then spun a web around the Andhra batsmen to knock the daylight out of the visitors.

Yadav started Andhra’s downfall when he first dismissed D B Prasanth for 29 and then returned to claim the wickets of GK Chiranjeevi (0) and K Bharat Reddy (0).

Jakati got rid of D Shivkumar, who waged a lone battle and scored a fighting 79-ball 48.

Yadav wiped off the tail to finish with figures of six for 44.

In reply, Goa were 58 for two in their first innings with skipper Swapnil Asnodkar (38 batting) and Sagun Kamat (1 batting) in the middle when stumps were drawn for the day.

For Andhra, B Sudhakar and SK Mohammed Basa claimed one wicket each.

Andhra 148 (D Shivkumar 48; Amit Yadav 6 for 44) lead Goa 58 for 2 (Swapnil Asnodkar 38* ; B Sudhakar 1 for 7) lead by 90 runs.
