Openers Prasanth Kumar and Sirkar Bharat scored half-centuries and guided Andhra to a comfortable 232 for three in their Group C Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra.
Bharat struck a fluent 82 off 113 balls, laced with 11 fours and two sixes, while Prasanth made a laborious 86 off 188 deliveries after the visitors were put into bat at the YS Raja Reddy Stadium.
At stumps on the opening day, Bodapati Sumanth was batting on 24 while former Mumbai veteran Amol Muzumdar was on six.
Andhra were off to a good start with the openers putting on 122 runs.
For Maharashtra, Domnic Joseph picked up two wickets.
