Bengal captain, Laxmi Ratan Shuklawill be fined his entire match fee for not maintaining the required over rate in the quarter-final tie against the Railwaysat the Eden Gardens.
Bengal bowled an additional total of 11 overs throughout the contest, which makes it the second time they have repeated the feat after the match against Saurashtra.
Shukla’s teammates escaped with a 50 percent cut in their match fee for the same offense.
“As it has happened for the second time, it’s termed as ‘serious offense’ and hence the captain is docked the full match fee,” said Match Referee Rajendra Jadeja.
“Anything less than five overs is considered a minor offence and above that tantamount to fine. A repeat of a slow over rate for the third time may lead to a one-match ban,” added Jadeja.
Now, Shukla has to be wary of maintaining the over limit during his side’s semifinal against Maharashtra, failing which a ban will be imposed upon Bengal.
Bengal will lock horns with Maharashtra in Indore from January 18 to 22.
