After a poor start for Maharashtra on Day 1, as they were bundled for 91, they bounced back on Day 2 as they have earned a good 125-run lead against Andhra in the quarter-final of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 at the CH Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli on Tuesday.
Andhra began Day 2 at the score of 87 for the loss of three wickets, but with just seven runs added to the day, they lost their fourth wicket in the form of opener, Prasanth Kumar, who was dismissed for 28 through a run out. At the score of 108, it was AG Pradeep who departed for 27, followed by Ricky Bhui, a run later for just four.
The seventh and eighth wicket fell at the score of 126, in the form of Naren Reddy and Kakani Harish for seven and duck, respectively. The tail-enders barely managed to get any runs as the team was bundled for 138.
Maharashtra resumed their second innings and were off to another shaky start, losing Swapnil Dugale for a duck at the score of one. However, they recovered quick with a 55-run stand for the second wicket between Harshad Khadiwale and Rohit Motwani. Motwani was dismissed for seven at the score of 56, followed by Khadiwale, who fell short of his half-century by three and had to depart for 47, just two runs later.
Ankit Bawne too departed after eight runs, but it was followed by a 79-run stand for the fifth wicket between Chirag Khurna and Kedar Jadhav, before Khurna departed for 23. Rahul tripathi, who came in following him was retired hurt for duck. He was followed by Shrikant Mundhe, who was dismissed for mere six and as the day closed, Jadhav remained unbeaten on 81, with a 125 run lead over Andhra.
Brief Scores: Maharashtra 91 (Rohit Motwani 23; Dhuvvarupa Siva Kumar 6 for 41) and 172 for 6 (Kedar Jadhav 81*; Dhuvvarupa Siva Kumar 3 for 54) lead Andhra 138 (Murumulla Sriram 31; Anupam Sanklecha 4 for 45) by 125 runs.
