Dhanbad: Dec 24, 2014

Ishank Jaggi cracked an unbeaten double century to foil Tripura‘s attempt to walk away with an outright win but the visitors still claimed three points from their Ranji Trophy Group C match owing to a first innings lead in a drawn game, at Dhanbad on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old hit an unconquered 201 which was laced with 22 boundaries and three sixes. He was ably supported by Kushal Singh, who came up with an innings of 71 as the duo helped Jharkhand post 409 for eight declared in their second innings.

For Tripura, Manisankar Murasingh (four for 107) returned with a four-wicket haul and Abhijit Sarkar took two wickets, while Viki Saha (one for 92) and Abhijit Dey (one for 44) also chipped in with one wicket each.

Tripura then finished the match at a score of 12 for no loss in three overs at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.

It was a good batting display by Jharkhand, who were dismissed for a paltry 142 in their first innings and were struggling in the second innings when they were reduced to 127 for five yesterday.
