Goa reached 263 for one against Jammu & Kashmir on the first day of their Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match on Monday.

Jammu: Riding on a ton by Amogh Desai and unbeaten half-centuries by Swapnil Asnodkar and Sagun Kamat, Goa reached 263 for one against Jammu & Kashmir on the first day of their Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match on Monday. Put in to bat, Goa openers Desai and Asnodkar built a solid platform. Their first wicket partnership yielded crucial 225 runs. While Desai scored a 228-ball 106, studded with 13 boundaries, Asnodkar hit an unbeaten 74 off 151 deliveries that included seven fours and a six. Even after Desai departed, Asnodkar and Kamat continued the good work and put the visitors in command. At the close of play, Kamat had also completed his fifty and was unbeaten on 57. Both the teams are currently placed sixth and seventh in the points table respectively. Goa are currently placed in the sixth spot as they have 15 points from seven games, along with a win and loss, each followed by five draws. Jammu and Kashmir, on the other hand, have played six games and have just eigth points from a couple of losses and four draws, as they are in a despearte search for their opening win this season so far. In the previous game, Ian Dev Singh Chauhan (126) struck a fighting century, his ninth in first class, and Mithun Manhas (50 not out) scored his second fifty in a row to help Jammu and Kashmir salvage a draw against Jharkhand in their Ranji Trophy Group C match.
