Services started off the second round of the Ranji trophy 2016-17 on a good note in Group C as they have dismantled Tripura on Day One at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Only 76 overs of the game was possible as low light forced an early stoppage in play as Tripura were at 228 for the loss of 7 in 76 overs. Tripura started off well as Bishal Bose and Udiyan Bose got off to a solid start, but sooner the latter mentioned player was dismissed at the individual score of 26. Smit Patel who walked in at No. 3 was removed by Dinesh Pathania at an individual score of nine.
It was Bishal Bose who remained the top scorer for Tripura as he scored 49 from 176 deliveries. Yashpal Singh played a useful knock in the middle stage of the game as he scored 41 off 120 balls. Team Tripura received a lot of support from the lower-middle order batsmen as Nirupam Sen Chowdhary, Rajat Dey scored valuable runs towards the latter stage of the game.
Manishankar Murasingh and Gurinder Singh are batting currently for Tripura and have scored 22 and 23 runs respectively. They will need to bat responsibly on Day Two as they still have to make sure that their team reaches a respectable total before getting bundled out. For the Services, Muzzaffaruddin Khalid remained the pick of bowlers as he got four wickets. Khalid finished with the figures of 18-2-56-4 and received good support from Pathania who had the figures of 20-6-57-2 at stumps. Khalid would be eager to get his 5-for as it looks very likely on Day Two.
