Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Day 2, Round 5, highlights and match results: Aamir Aziz, Pervez Rasool bundle out Himachal; Jammu & Kashmir trail by 169 runs

Jammu & Kashmir ended their play of second innings at 39 for no loss on Round 5, Day 2 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17.

Himachal, who were 58 for 2 on Day 2 of the Round 5 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17, were bowled out for 370. Aamir Aziz and Pervez Rasool shared seven wickets to bundle out the opposition. From Jammu & Kashmir it was Paras Dogra and Rishi Dhawan’s centuries that kept them in command for most part of the day. But with the fall of Dhawan’s wicket; Mayank Dagar, Pankaj Jaiswal and Akshay Chauhan were gone for golden duck. Jammu & Kashmir began their innings and put up 39 runs on Day 2 with loss of no wicket. They were bundled out cheaply for 162 on Day 1. On Day 1, Jammu & Kashmir won the toss and elected to bat first. They were off to disastrous start losing their first wicket within the second over. The wickets kept tumbling after regular intervals as Dagar and Jaswal continued wrecking havoc. It was only Shubham Khajuriua who provided some resistance from one end. Dagar received wickets in the form of Mithun Manas, Harmeet Singh and his last wicket was in the form of Khajuria, who missed his half-century by 48.

In response to Himachal’s 162, Jammu & Kashmir lost their first wicket for 28 runs in form of Prasant Chopra for 17. After a 20 run stand Ankush Bains went for 6. He was Rohit Sharma’s first wicket in his 3rd over.  Jammu & Kashmir are placed sixth in the table of Group c, with 7 points from 4 games. Himchal Pradesh are a point below them with 6 points from 4 games.
