After a crumbling start on day three of the second round of Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Jharkhand replies strongly against Karnataka with the help of Ishan Kishan’s ton. The third day of the Group B match between Jharkhand and Karnataka began Varun Aaron’s side batting at nine for no loss. Off the fourth ball of day three, Jharkhand lost their first wicket in the form of their opener Shiv Gautam followed by Virat Singh’s wicket at the score of 34. From there on, opener Anand Singh played a vital role in stabilising Jharkhand’s batting by scoring an impressive 45 along before losing his wicket to Stuart Binny. Middle-order batsman and Jharkhand’s famous batsman Saurabh Tiwary misses out his ton by nine runs as he was run out by Krishappa Gowtham after scoring 91. Further, experienced Jharkhand batsman Ishank Jaggi and young Rishabh Pant added 72-runs for fifth wicket. Ishan kept batting but in between Jaggi fell followed by Kaushal Singh’s wicket. Jharkand were 215 for six and that crunch situation, Ishan stood tall at the crease, scored his second First-Class ton, and remained unbeaten after making 118 at the end of day three. Karnataka, who posted a mammoth total of 577 in the first innings, is currently leading by 268 runs and need four more wickets of Jharkhand before they add 68 runs more to enforce follow-on. Currently, Jharkhand is at tricky situation with but till the time Ishan is there at the crease, his side has hope.
