Loss of a day due to wet outfield cost the match between Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh landing the match to draw on Day 4 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Himachal Pradesh were at the top since Day 1 as Prashant Chopra along with Sumeet Verma scored centuries to take their side to a total of 357. Mayank Dagar missed out on his half-century in the first innings of Himachal Pradesh. Cheepurapalli Stephen got three wickets for Andhra Pradesh along with Duvvarapu Siva Kumar and Bandaru Ayyapa getting two wickets. Although, Andhra Pradesh might not have received the necessary start with the fall of Srikar Bharath, Prasanth Kumar and Hanuma Vihari got the match going to their side. Earlier, Day 2 started with Sumeet secured the second hundred of the Himachal innings. Sumeet added 142 runs in 194 balls (17 four’s and 3 sixes) which enabled Himachal’s score past the 300 run mark. Prashant Chopra on Day 1 whipped a 152-ball 117 to help Himachal stay in the game. Andhra Pradesh bowlers were tight and kept bowling in the right areas, Stephen was the star with the ball with 3 for 74, alongside Siva Kumar and Ayyappa . In reply, Andhra Pradesh played just 14 overs, where most of the game was delayed due to bad outfield. Andhra were off to a poor start losing Bharat for just 6 runs, after Rishi Dhawan got him leg-before.
