Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Day 4, Round 2, match results: Chattisgarh and Andhra match ends in draw

Chattisgarh have six points under their belt while Andra are yet to win a match in Ranji Trophy 2016-17

Chattisgarh and Andhra match ended in a draw in Round 2 sharing the points, making Andhra wait for their chance to secure victory in Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Andhra won the toss and elected to field first. Taking advantage of the same, Chattisgarh posted mammoth total on the board of 394, with some centuries coming from Aniket Khare and Abhimanyu Chauhan. Apart from these, Andhra did fight back Duvvarupa Siva Kumar bagging four wickets at the end of his spells and Cheepirapalli Stephen along with Bandaru Ayyappa got two wicket each to bundle out Chattisgarh in the first innings. They were bowled out for 199 with Prasanth Kumar being the highest run-scorer for the side. Dwaraka Ravi Teja was the second highest run-scorer for the side. However, Pankaj Rao’s 4-fer was enough to keep Chattisgarh ahead in the series. Andhra enforced follow on and showed better calibre but was unable to go averse draw once again. In the second innings, Chattisgarh once again were ahead and their bowlers once again did the trick.

Pratik Sinha and Kant Singh have two wickets each while Ajay Mandal took three wickets to keep Andhra once again on toes. Andhra did show fight in the second innings with Srikar Bharat’s and Hnauma Vihari fifties while Ravi Teja missed his fifty by a run. With regards to the points table, Chattisgarh are most probably to remain with 7 points and at No. 3 as the match ended in draw, while Andhra in all probability might remain down the table.
