Day four of fourth round of Ranji Trophy 2016-17 match between Baroda and Punjab ended in draw. The day began with Punjab being at strong position with their score of 452 with the loss of only two wickets trailing by 77 runs. Manan Vohra and skipper Yuvraj Singh were at the crease and added 29 more to their partnership before Punjab lost its third wicket on day four. Vohra was the first one to get out after scoring an impressive 224 runs. After that, Yuvraj and Gurkeerat Singh Mann began building another partnership and collected 116 runs for fourth wicket.
In between Yuvraj completed his maiden double ton in First-Class cricket and continued to score but lost his another partner Gurkeerat after completing his fifty. Further, Yuvraj looked strong for his maiden triple-ton as well but fell short of 40 runs. His 260-run knock included 26 fours and four sixes. From there on, wickets kept falling as Punjab got all out for 670 and taking the lead of 141 runs. From Baroda’s bowling department — Swapnil Singh and Vishnu Solanki were the pick of bowlers as the duo scalped seven wickets together. Swapnil took four, while Solanki grabbed three. After such high scoring innings from both the sides, it was evident that there is no result going to come but by taking lead, Punjab surely took three crucial points. Baroda got to bat only 14 overs, in which they made 37 without losing any wickets. This was another match of this round of the tournament which included plenty of brilliant performances. In the end, Deepak Hooda was adjudged for Man of the Match award for his excellent knock of 293 runs for Baroda in the first innings.
