The Gujarat team is struggling at the score of 276, as they have lost eight wickets, vs former champions Uttar Pradesh, on Day 1 of Round 4 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2016-17, at the Palam A Stadium in Delhi on Thursday. Winning the toss, and electing to bat first, Gujarat have not managed to get off to a good start in the opening innings, while openers, Samit Gohel, Priyank Panchal, along with wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel, scoring 60 each, while Imtiaz Ahmed has claimed four wickets for 48 so far, as UP aim to get rid of the remaining couple of batsmen early on on Day 2, and start their first innings campaign with a bang. Uttar Pradesh fought back to reduce Gujarat to 276 for eight on day one of the Ranji Trophy Group A match at the Palam Ground on Thursday. Gujarat had made an impressive start with openers Samit Gohel (60) and Priyank Kirit Panchal (60) sharing a 122-run stand. After the fall of the openers, captain Parthiv Patel took the innings forward with a 60 off 70 balls. Medium pacer Imtiaz Ahmed was UP’s stand out bowler. He sent back both Gujarat openers Gohil and Panchal only to return to add two more wickets to his day’s tally. He removed Rush Kalaria and Chintan Gaja off successive balls in the 87th over to give his side momentum going into day two. Chirag Gandhi (33 batting) and Hardik Patel were in the middle when stumps were called, added PTI.
