Former champions Mumbai settled for a boring draw against Madhya Pradesh on Day 4 of Round 3 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2016-17 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday. MP, who scored a mammoth total of 445, saw Mumbai amass the total, as they scored 567 for the loss of seven wickets, within Day 4, finally leading the match to a boring draw. MP’s Rajat Patidar was the highest scorer with 106 runs, while for Mumbai, it was Akhil Herwadkar, who scored an impressive 153, while Siddhesh Lad remained unbeaten on 99. Mumbai’s Tushar Deshpande and Vijay Gohil claimed three wickets, each, while for MP, it was Ishwar Pandey and Ankit Sharma, who too claimed three wickets, respectively. On Day 3, Mumbai‘s Akhil Herwadkar scored an unbeaten century, as they inched closer to the first innings lead of Madhya Pradesh, after steering themselves to 290 for five in their Ranji Trophy tie at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday. On Day 3, Herwadkar was unbeaten on 136, while Tushar Deshpande was on eight, giving him company at stumps. Aditya Tare also proved healthy with the bat as he scored 80 crucial runs by smashing 10 boundaries, while opener Herwadkar smashed 19 boundaries, and was also involved in a 155-run stand along with Tare for the fifth wicket.
In the middle order, Suryakumar Yadav contributed 41 off 90 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Madhya Pradesh were all out for 445 in their first innings, with Rajat Patidar top-scoring with 106.
