Twin centuries from Tanmay Agarwal helped Hyderabad earn six points at the end of their Ranji Trophy 2016-17 Group C match against Jammu and Kashmir. Hyderabad pounded their opponents by 286 runs at the Motibaug Cricket Ground in Vadodara. Chasing a stiff target of 403 runs to win, Hyderabad bowled out Jammu and Kashmir for mere 117, registering a big victory. Hyderabad bowlers Chama Milind and Akash Bhandari shared seven wickets between them, whereas Ravi Kiran claimed two and Mohammad Siraj one. Ram Dayal top-scored with 33 runs for Jammu and Kashmir.
It was a game in which Hyderabad dominated Jammu and Kashmir right from the beginning. Batting first, Hyderabad posted 328 on the board with their opener Agarwal smacking a century, scoring 119 off 321 balls. Hyderabad captain S Badrinath and Balchander Anirudh missed out on their respective fifties, falling for 47 and 46 respectively to Parvez Rasool. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir were skittled for 169, which awarded a big 159-run lead to Hyderabad. Rasool top scored with 70 for Jammu and Kashmir in the first essay, after claiming 4 for 63.
Hyderabad were bolstered by Agarwal’s second ton in the game, who remained unbeaten on 183-ball 103, as they declared at 244 for 2. Akshath Reddy scored 53, whereas Badrinath contributed a rapid 66. Jammu and Kashmir batted horribly in their second innings, with half of their side being knocked over for single-digit scores.
