At Jamshedpur: At stumps on Day One, Jammu & Kashmir were 357 for 6 and are on the verge of surpassing the 450-run mark. Jharkhand pushed them to the wall, dismissing the lower order for 19 runs. After Shubham Kajuria’s hundred put Jammu & Kashmir in a good position, Owais Shah and centurion Punit Bisht (115) could not add much to their overnight score, causing the decline. Varun Aaron and Shahbaz Nadeem struck early, and shared six scalps.
In reply, Jharkhand started off well. A 117-run opening stand by Nazim Siddiqui and Anand Singh put them in the driver’s seat, before their middle order irked the momentum. From 135 for 1, Jharkhand were restricted to 197 for 5. Captain Parvez Rasool stood tall in Jammu & Kashmir’s comeback. Ishan Kishan would aim to bat smartly with the tail.
Brief scores:
Jammu & Kashmir 376 (Shubham Kajuria 101, Owais Shah 84, Punit Bisht 115; Varun Aaron 4 for 54) lead Jharkhand 220 for 5 (Nazim Siddiqui 74, Anand Singh 68; Saurabh Tiwary 25; Parvez Rasool 2 for 65) by 156 runs.
At Rohtak: Resistance by the tail-enders kept Haryana ahead at the close of Day 2, Round 5 of Ranji Trophy 2017-18. Haryana began their day at a dicey situation of 99 for 7. However, Harshal Patel lifted Haryana’s spirits. His 108-ball 83 saw crucial partnerships with Rohit Pramod Sharma (46) and Ajit Chahal (81), taking Haryana’s score to 223.
In response, Rajasthan slumped to 74 for 7, with every Haryana bowler picking wickets at regular intervals. Amitkumar Gautam, Ashok Menaria, Mahipal Lomror and Rajesh Bishnoi managed to cross double-digit scores. Haryana will look to instigate them on the third day as well with Rajasthan trailing by 149 runs.
Brief scores:
Haryana 223 (Harshal Patel 83; Pankaj Singh 3 for 60, Aniket Choudhary 3 for 37) lead Rajasthan 74 for 7 (Rajesh Bishnoi 13; Amit Mishra 2 for 19) by 149 runs.
At Rajkot: On a flat wicket, Saurashtra managed to post a mammoth 570. In response, Gujarat steered to 45 for no loss at close of Day 2. Parthiv Patel and Priyank Panchal remained unbeaten on 29 and 12 respectively.

It will be over to Saurashtra to defend their total well and gain that first-innings lead.

Saurashtra 570 (Snell Patel 156, Cheteshwar Pujara 182; Siddharth Desai 4 for 154) lead Gujarat 45 for no loss (Parthiv Patel 29*, Priyank Panchal 12*) by 525 runs.
