Chhatisgarh ended day three of their Elite A Round 2 match of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season against Gujarat at 366/7, reducing the 485-run deficit to 172 runs, courtesy centuries by captain Harpreet Bhatia (110) and Vishal Singh s 117.

Resuming their innings at 53/2, Bhatia led the run scoring and smashed 17 boundaries and two sixes for his fine 149-ball 110, but his innings was brought to an end by Roosh Kalaria. Chhattisgarh then lost two quick wickets and slipped to 188/6 with Sanjeet Desai and wicketkeeper-batsman Manoj Singh out for five and nought respectively.

Vishal then stemmed the flow of wickets and stood firm for his unbeaten 138-ball 117, which was helped with eight cracking shots to the boundary and as many hits over the fence. Shivendra Singh was unbeaten on 46 to give Vishal company when stumps were drawn on the penultimate day.

For Gujarat, left-arm pacer Arzan Nagwaswalla was the pick of the bowlers with three for 66 in his 19 overs. Left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai picked two wickets and went for 86 runs in his 33 overs.
