Saurashtra bowlers had to toil hard as Baroda crawled to 268/1 with opener Kedar Devdhar unbeaten on 171 when the day’s play ended. On Day 3 of their Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite A, Round 4 fixture, Baroda are still trail by 253 runs and with nine wicket remaining, look in a strong position to gain the first innings lead come Day 4.
The overnight pair of Devdhar and Aditya Waghmode built a century stand for the first wicket after resuming on 10/0. Prerak Mankad separated the duo when he bowled Waghmode on 32 before the lunch break.
When the morning session ended, Devdhar was unbeaten on 80 and was joined by Vishnu Solanki.
They kept Saurashtra bowlers at bay, scoring 76 runs in 29 overs in the second session with Devdhar reaching his ninth first-class century.
Saurashtra bowlers had to endure another tough session especially against Solanki who continued continued stonewalling their every effort.
He reached half-century in the final session and as the day drew to a close, he had consumed 190 deliveries for 58 runs.
Saurasthra captain Jaydev Shah used six bowlers but only Mankad tasted success that too in the first session.
