Elite B Round 4 Day 4

Himachal suffered a stunning batting collapse on the fourth and final day of their 2018-19 Ranji Trophy Elite B round 4 match against Hyderabad to be bowled out for a meagre 97 in their second innings. At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the hosts had huffed and puffed their way to an innings lead on Day 3 and would have been happy to have taken a draw. However, Ravi Kiran (4/34) and Tanay Thyagarajan (3/9) ran through their batting order, sharing seven wickets between them. Four of their batsmen scored in double-digits and non crossed 19 runs.

Kiran landed the early blows as he removed captain Prashant Chopra (5), Ankush Bains (0) and Nikhil Gangta (2) in his successive overs to leave them struggling at 15/3. Priyanshu Khanduri (15) and Sumeet Verma (19) tried reviving the innings but Mohammed Muddassis thrashes their hopes by removing the former.

While Kiran blew away the top order, Thyagarajan took care of the rest, accounting for Sumeet, Ekant Sen (0) and Pankaj Jaiswal (8).

Himachal folded for 97 in 45.2 overs. Tanmay Agarwal struck three fours and a six for his unbeaten 48 while captain Akshath Reddy scored 43 not out with five fours and a six to seal the first win of the season for Hyderabad. And with a bonus point.
