Elite Group C Day 4

Rajasthan took three points after a tepid draw with Haryana in round 7 of their Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite C clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

After bowling out Haryana for 118, Rajasthan had taken a massive first innings lead thanks to centuries from Robin Bist and Mahipal Lomror to post a declare on 490/6d.

However, their hopes of an outright wing went up in flames as Haryana batsmen came out with renewed vigour and put up a strong show with the bat. They finished the third day on 244/3 to cut down the lead to 128 runs.

After resumption of the final day, Pramod Chandila completed his half-century but Chaitanya Bishnoi fell short of his century by six runs. Bishnoi fell to Rahul Chahar for a well-made 94 off 208.

Chandila became TM Ul-Haq’s only victim of the innings when he was caught on 73. Rajasthan bowlers continued to toil and had to work hard to earn the wickets. Even though. Haryana kept losing wickets, the batsmen kept chipping away at the lead. When captain Harshal Patel fell for 23, the team score read 369/7, still three runs adrift of the levelling the lead.

The hosts must have sniffed a chance here but Jayant Yadav (66*) and Sanjay Pahal (50) ensured no late drama to help their team into the lead. Haryana had reached 462/8 in 146 overs, taking a lead of 90 runs before the draw was confirmed.

Brief Scores: Rajasthan 490/6 drew with Haryana 118 and 462/8d (Chaitanya Bishnoi 94, Himanshu Rana 83; Rahul Chahar 5/151)
