At Eden Gardens, hosts Bengal left Madhya Pradesh with plenty to do after they declared their first innings on 510/9 after skipper Manoj Tiwary scored an unbeaten double-century on day two of their Elite Group B match of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy.
From an overnight 246/4, with Tiwary resuming on 31, Bengal plundered a further 264 runs for the loss of five wickets as Madhya Pradesh’s bowlers struggled. The wicketkeeper Vivek Singh (28) and Aamir Gani (29) offered resistance down the order as Tiwary registered his 25th first-class hundred.
For MP, young Shubham Sharma claimed 5/59 – his first haul of two wickets of more in his 23rd match.
At stumps, MP were 15/0.
