Chasing Uttarakhand’s mammoth first innings total of 582/9d, Sikkim were rolled over for 264 in the first innings, and following, find themselves in further trouble having lost both their openers for single digits. At close of play on day three, Sikkim were 27/2, trailing Uttarakhand by 291 runs on day three of Round 3 of Ranji Trophy 2018-19.
Starting the day at 49/3, Sikkim, were buoyed by star player Milind Kumar’s 133 off 164 balls, but his was the only major contribution for Sikkim, Milind who had hit two doubles in his previous two innings was caught by Karanveer Kaushal off DK Sharma. He had combined with opener and skipper Nilesh Lamichaney (57) for a stand of 177 runs.
But Lamichaney’s dismissal led to a collapse with Sikkim losing Lee Yong Lepcha, Milind and Chitiz Tamang in the span of three runs. Bipul Sharma played a handy knock of 36 not out as Sikkim were bowled out for 264 in the first innings. For Uttarakhand DK Sharma took 3/36 while Malolan Rangarajan claimed 3/67. Skipper Rajat Bhatia took 2/33 while Sunny and Deepak Dhapola took one wicket each.
In their second dig, Sikkim lost Lamichaney to Dhapola for 8 followed by the wicket of Faizan Khan for 6 by DK Sharma.
