At stumps, the hosts were 146/2 with Rohit Rayudu (18*) giving company to his captain. Hyderabad were trailing Himachal by 205 runs at the close of play on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Himachal didn’t have the best of starts as Ravi Kiran got rid of Sumeet Verma (12) and Ekant Sen (5) with the visitors having added just 10 runs to their overnight total of 231/4.
After being reduced to 241/6, Mayank Dagar and Rishi Dhawan joined forces to stabilise them. While Mayank scored 61 off 110, Dhawan hit four fours in his 55-ball 38. Together, they added 66 runs to take Himachal past the 300-run mark.
Tanay Thyagarajan, who finished with figures of 4/86, broke the partnership with the wicket of Dhawan.
Dagar took the mantle of taking the innings forward as he received little to no support from the tailenders. He was the final wicket to fall but not before taking them to 351 in 126.4 overs. While Thyagarajan was the pick of the bowlers, Ravi Kiran chipped in with 3/68.
