Left-arm spinner Rahul Prasad ran through the Goa batting line-up to finish with 6/45 in the second innings on his First Class debut to hand Jharkhand their second win of Ranji Trophy 2018-19 in round four at Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground, Porvorim on Saturday.

Jharkhand had already secured the first inning leads after scoring 390 with allrounder Ankul Roy hitting his maiden ton (127) in reply to Goa’s 364. Goa, in the their second dig, had finished day three at 10/1, but found themselves in all sorts of trouble on the final day. Medium pacer Ashish Kumar removed Goa’s Vishamber Kahlon for 16 and Amit Verma for 0 early in the day.

Prasad then got skipper Shagun Kamat for 13 leaving Goa reeling at 45/5. Snehal Kauthankar and Suyash Prabhudessai then arrested the slump with a stand of 58 runs for the sixth wicket, but Prasad removed Prabhudessai, Kauthankar, Darshan Misal (0), and Keenan Vaz (7) helping Jharkhand bundle out Goa for 131.

In reply, Jharkhand chased down a target of 106 for the loss of three wickets in 32.2 overs. Opener Kumar Deobrat remained unbeaten on 48 while Saurabh Tiwary made 29. Ishan Jaggi scored an unbeaten 20. Prabhudessai claimed two wickets.

This win takes Jharkhand to third spot in Elite C with 15 points  while Goa slumped to to the bottom of the pile with their third loss in four games with three points.
