Rajasthan maintained their unbeaten record in Ranji Trophy 2018-19 in round four of the tournament claiming three points in a draw against Uttar Pradesh at the Green Park, Kanpur on Saturday.

After scoring 311 in the first innings, Rajasthan had bowled out Uttar Pradesh for 214 to secure the first innings lead, and in the second dig, Rajasthan managed 232, thus setting a target of 330 for UP to claim an unlikely win. UP finished the day at 116/2 to take one point and secured their second place in the points tally in their group. Rajasthan continue to lead the table with 21 points.

Starting the day at 136/4, Rajasthan lost overnight batsman Rajesh Bishnoi to spinner Saurabh Kumar for 30 followed by the Amitkumar Gautam for 86 to Yash Dayal in back-to-back overs. The duo had added 45 runs on day four. Rajasthan then went on to lose their next four wickets for just 19 runs with Tajinder Singh making 20 and Rahul Chahar adding 18.

For UP, Saurabh Kumar claimed 6/77 while Ankit Rajpoot added 2/42. In reply, UP never looked like going for the win as openers Shivam Chaudhary and Mohammad Saif consumed 27.1 overs between them to add 85 runs for the opening wicket. Chaudhary was the first to fall – cleaned up by Tajinder Singh for 36 off 76 balls. Saif got to his fifty, scoring 58 off 113 balls before he was run out by Rahul Chahar, and that signalled the end of the match as the game was drawn.

Brief Scores: Rajasthan 311 & 232 (Amitkumar Gautam 86, Robin Bist 32; Saurabh Kumar 6/77) drew with Uttar Pradesh 214 & 116/2 (Mohammad Saif 58*; Tajinder Singh 1/16) – Rajasthan took three points by virtue of the first innings lead.
