Santanu Mishra and Subhranshu Senapati hit half-centuries as Odisha defeated Jammu and Kashmir in a comfortable chase of 196 in their Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite Group C clash at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground on Tuesday.

Mishra top-scored with 78 off 147 while Senapati remained unbeaten on 72 as Odisha overhauled the target to make 197/2 in 49.1 overs.

J&K captain Parvez Rasool ended the solid start Odisha openers gave their team in the second innings when he had Anurag Sarangi stumped for 20. That gave way to a century stand with Mishra and Senapati taking control of the proceedings.

They added 112 runs for the second wicket before Mishra departed after hitting nine fours in his 147-ball knock. Govinda Poddar hastened the chase with a 9-ball 20 as Odisha recorded their third win of the season to claim full six points.

After resuming on their overnight tally of 272/7, Rasool and Aamir Sofi steered the innings forward. Their stand of 110 runs for the eighth wicket pushed the score past 350 runs. Rasool scored 158 off 217 with 18 fours and two sixes before departing.

Sozi scored 56 off 129 as J&K were bowled out for 391 in 134.4 overs.
