Ranji Plate Round 9 Day 2

Taruwar Kohli remained unbeaten on 96 as Mizoram were bowled out for 198 in their first innings on the second day of their Ranji Trophy, Round 9, Plate clash against Uttarakhand. They were asked to bat again by their hosts as they avoided follow-on and at stumps had reached 32/1 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on Tuesday.

A decent that saw the openers adding 31 runs in 8 overs quickly disintegrated when Deepak Dhapola had Lalhruaizela caught for 91 off the first delivery of ninth over.

From 31/0, they slipped to 67/4 with Sunny Rana striking twice. Taruwar found some support at the other end from HM Ralte as the two added 57 runs to repair the damage.

The stand broke with the dismissal of Ralte on 30 and Kohli had wage a lone battle. His 96 came off 199 deliveries with 10 fours. Their first innings lasted 75.2 overs with Dhanraj Sharma being the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/49. Rana finished with 2/46 while Deepak Hooda, Mayanka Mishra and Vaibhav Singh chipped in with a wicket each.

Uttarakhand forced the follow-on with Malolan Rangarajan trapping opener Akhil Rajput (5) to give Mizoram an early blow. The visitors still trail by 147 runs
