Ranji Trophy final: Dinesh Karthik century leads Tamil Nadu's reply

Dinesh Karthik completed his century and remained unbeaten on 109 as Tamil Nadu reached 246 for eight at tea on the fourth day of the Ranji Trophy final against Rajasthan in Chennai. Tamil Nadu trail by a further 375 runs.

Karthik remained in control from one end hitting 14 boundaries and a six to reach 109 not out, which came off 226 balls.

Tamil Nadu lost three wickets in the session in form of Yo Mahesh, Sunny Gupta and skipper Lakshmipathy Balaji.

Gupta fell just after lunch for six to Gajendra Singh, while Mahesh was trapped in front of the wicket by pacer Pankaj Singh.

Balaji hit six boundaries in his knock of 29 off 50 balls, but his resistence came to an end when he fell to Rituraj Singh.

Earlier at lunch, resuming their innings at 66 for three, Tamil Nadu were jolted early by Rituraj Singh when he dismissed Kuthethurshri Vasudevadas for 25.

Karthik then teamed up with Ramaswamy Prasanna to bail his side out of trouble as the two added 76 runs for the fifth wicket. Their stand was broken by Rituraj, when he had Prasanna caught by Gajendra Singh for 44.
