Defending champions Rajasthan have reached 89 runs without any loss of a wicket at lunch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Earlier, Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bat in the Ranji Trophy finals against Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

The openers of the visiting team provided a solid start as Vineet Saxena completed his half-century while veteran Aakash Chopra was unbeaten on 36 runs off 114 balls.

Chopra was injured as he misjudged a bouncer off the bowling of Jagannathan Kaushik but later continued to apply himself with grit.

Though Rajasthan were not aggressive in approach, Tamil Nadu bowlers were unsuccessful in applying pressure and getting a wicket.

Brief Score: Rajasthan 89 for no loss (Vineet Saxena 51*, Aakash Chopra 36*) vs Tamil Nadu
