Raqibul Hasan registers highest score by a Bangladeshi player in List A cricket

Raqibul's knock is both the highest by a Bangladeshi in List A cricket and by any batsman on Bangladesh soil.

In the 2017 edition of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, Bangladeshi batsman Raqibul Hasan registered the highest score in List A cricket. Playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Abahani Limited at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No. 4 Ground, Savar, Raqibul played a lone hand while chasing a mammoth total of 367. Besides him, Charith Asalanka was the only one to score fifty, while nobody else could even touch 30-run mark in the chase. Of the other nine, only three batters could go into double-figures while the rest could not even do that.

Raqibul’s blistering knock of 190 included 17 fours and 10 sixes. This is the joint 2nd-most sixes by a Bangladeshi in List A cricket. The record is 11 sixes by Mashrafe Mortaza in 2016. The other two Bangladeshi players to hit 10 sixes in a List A match are Ezaz Ahmed in 2014-15 and Anamul Haque in 2014-15. In terms of hitting most sixes in a List A match in Bangladesh soil, the record remains with Shane Watson for hitting 15 sixes in 2011.

Despite playing such a brilliant knock, Raqibul’s side ended on losing side and lost the match by 27 runs. Raqibul’s knock is both the highest by a Bangladeshi in List A cricket and by any batsman on Bangladesh soil. He went past Watson’s unbeaten 185. Moreover, 10 batsman have managed to score 150 or above on Bangladesh soil and only three of them were non-Bangladeshi player. Here is the list:
