For the first time in its history, Mumbai Cricket Association has formed an Information Technology sub-committee, to be headed by its treasurer Ravi Savant, to keep abreast of technology and reap its benefits.
The IT panel would revamp MCA’s website by improving its content so that it can attract advertisers, Savant told PTI.
“This is the first time an IT sub-committee has been formed by MCA. We want to improve the website’s content to attract advertisements, make online the registration and transfer of players, and entries to various tournaments. These measures would increase the visitors to the sites and attract advertisers,” Savant said.
He also said that there were plans to start interactive sessions on the website on umpiring, coaching among others.
“We also want to start sending out quarterly newsletters and establish an e-library. We are looking at getting funds from the Maharashtra government for this purpose.”
Savant said there were plans to request top cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar to come on board with personal blogs on the website www.mumbaicricket.com.
“The idea is to bring the public closer to the association,” he said.
Meanwhile, the MCA managing committee is set to meet on the 20th.
