Dubai: Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has managed to retain his second spot in the lastest ICC Player Rankings for Test Bowlers issued on Sunday, while no Indian features in the top 10 batsmen list. Ashwin (871) trails England’s Stuart Broad (872) by just a point while another Englishman James Anderson has returned to the top three following his 10-wicket haul at Headingley against Sri Lanka to leapfrog Yasir Shah of Pakistan and South Africa’s Dale Steyn. The ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen was being headed by Australia captain Steven Smith (925), followed by England’s Joe Root (876), New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson (868), South Africa’s Hashim Amla (860) and veteran Pakistan batsman Younus Khan (826). Besides, Ashwin continues to head the Test all-rounders’ ranking with 406 points. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is second ahead of England’s Broad. Talking of IPL 9, Ashwin had earlier claimed his 100th wicket in the tournament during Rising Pune Supergiants’ final match of IPL 2016 against Kings XI Punjab at Visakapatnam on Saturday. He became the sixth bowler to do so after the likes of Lasith Malinga, Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, Dwayne Bravo and Harbhajan Singh. Ashwin attained the feat in 111 matches. David Miller to his great unfortunate became Ashwin’s 100th scalp in the IPL. MS Dhoni was earlier criticised for underbowling Ashwin in the tournament.
