Newly-crowned Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) reached the base at the Garden City on Wednesday (June 6th) afternoon with echoes of roaring fans who had lined up and filled the streets in order to catch a glimpse of their favorite team.
The first-time IPL champion RCB was welcomed by the state’s Deputy Chief Minished D.K. Shivkumar at the airport.
On the route to the Chief Minister Siddaramiah’s office at the Vidhana Soudha, fans assembled on both the sides of the road and cheered the victorious squad with unwavering excitement.
Speaking about RCB’s triumph, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the final summit of the IPL 2025 in Ahmedabad on June 3rd and lifted their maiden title in 18 years.
This marked yet another massive achievement for the team’s star batter Virat Kohli, as he had his name tied with the franchise since the beginning of the league.
Following their appointment with the Chief Minister, the RCB players are going to head towards the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in order to begin the fan engagement programme.
The much-anticipated open-top bus parade that was announced to be from the Vidhana Soudha to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will also start at 5pm after the CM gave special permission for it.
It was earlier stated by the Bengaluru Traffic Police that it might not take place because of congestion on the route.
“We request all fans to follow guidelines set by police and other authorities, so that everyone can enjoy the roadshow peacefully,” the franchise posted on its official ‘X’ page.
The rainy weather in the city hasn’t helped and the police endured a difficult time managing the crowd that flooded the streets to celebrate the triumph last night.
