After a blazing start from Parthiv Patel that saw Royal Challengers Bangalore get to 70/1 by the Powerplay overs against Kings XI Punjab in Match 42 of IPL 2019 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday, KXIP fought back brilliantly to limit RCB to 109/4 by the time the second strategic time-out was taken.
From overs 6 to 14, RCB managed just 39 runs (in eight overs), losing three wicket in the process. The rut was started by Patel who was undone by a Muruagan Ashwin googly, playing across the line and the leading edge was well taken by skipper R Ashwin at covers. Patel went for 43 off 24 balls after hitting seven fours and two sixes. POWERPLAY UPDATE: Parthiv Patel blitz takes RCB to 70/1 in Powerplay overs
In the next over, skipper Ashsin bowled a peach of a delivery – an arm ball – to castle Moeen Ali for four. Hardus Viljoen, who had earlier dropped Virat Kohli in the second over, came in to the attack and with a slower one got rid of Akshdeep Nath for three, caught at extra cover by Mandeep Singh. AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis were left to rebuild the innings, but with both Ashwin operating from both ends, RCB stuttered in the middle overs as KXIP took command. De Villiers was batting on 25 off 25 balls while Stoinis is unbeaten on 15 off 17 balls. Murugan Ashwin three overs has been hit for just 20 runs while Ashwin’s three has been taken for only 10. Viljoen also has done a good job, giving away eight runs in his two overs. FOLLOW LIVE SCORE: RCB vs KXIP
