Cricket South Africa CEO Haroon Lorgat suggested that their relations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have improved with time and Proteas have been gearing up for their longest ever tour to India, that will stretch to at least two-and-half-months and that will be followed by hosting India in the early 2018. He also mentioned that renewed relationship with the BCCI will bring financial benefits to the South African board that is necessary for the game in the country. According to a report from Hindustan Times, Lorgat said, “We have restored our hitherto excellent relations with the BCCI and have been enjoying constructive engagement for some time. In any event, we should not be in the past as the game is far greater than any of us.
At this time, cricket will be of much greater interest to us because India will be hosting. CSA will gain financially when India tours South Africa in early 2018 for the return series.”
Recently, the Indian board confirmed that Ahmedabad, Delhi, Nagpur and Bangalore will host the Tests against South Africa in October and November this year. READ: IPL, Big Bash, other T20 leagues a threat to bilateral series: Dave Richardson
The 2013 India’s tour of South Africa, that was curtailed due to the differences between the boards, cost the former approximately 128 crore, the sum that would help them organize domestic cricket leagues.
