India’s veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to retain their A+ grade contract worth Rs. 7 crore in the annual player contracts by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Even though the pair have retired from T20I format, Rohit and Kohli continue in the A category.

A source has now recently made some revelations about some new players getting their call-ups, mentioning that Ishan Kishan might still have to wait for his return in the category, while three players have the change to gain brand-new contracts.

Wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan, who was notably excluded alongside Iyer last year, still has to wait for his return in central contracts,” source told IANS.

Axar Patel, who played a vital role in India’s unbeaten runs in the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy, also stands a good chance to earn a promotion,” he said.

Varun Chakaravarthy, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abhishek Sharma, who have been stellar performers for India in different formats in the last 12 months, also have a great chance to earn their first-ever central contract,” the source concluded.

A report by IANS had earlier revealed that the meeting between Ajit Agarkar (chairman of senior men’s selection committee) and Devajit Saikia (secretary of BCCI) was set to be held in Guwahati on Saturday, but was postponed.

The meeting had it’s focus on two major topics: annual retained players of men’s team, and initial making of India A along with senior team for the tour of England.
