Desmond Haynes publicly questioned on Facebook, the process behind Richard Pybus’ return to West Indies’ cricket as high performance director. It was only over a year back when he left the side as its team director. Haynes ended his post with a question: “It would be great to ask the president about this appointment and when was this position advertised.”
ESPNCricinfo confirmed that the post was neither advertised nor other candidates were interviewed, and that Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Dave Cameron had a direct hand in Pybus’ appointment.
Cricket great Barry Richards made two comments layered with sarcasm, the first —”Recycling does it work ? Mmmm not sure” and “CV can b made to look so good!!”
Pybus replied to Haynes’ post:
Earlier, Darren Sammy also raised questions and expressed disbelief over Pybus’ appointment.

However, Pybus did not reply to the former West Indian skipper.
Johnny Grave, the CWI chief executive, confirmed ESPNCricinfo, “Everyone, including the senior management at CWI, is behind Pybus’ appointment. It is a strategic appointment. It is a two-year consultancy role and it is specifically to do with establishing the HPC at the Coolidge Cricket Ground [in Antigua]. And ensuring the franchise-based Professional Cricket League that Richard set up four years ago becomes an even more elite, professional environment.”
