Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar extended his condolences on the occasion of the passing away of 84-year-old cricket-turned-commentator Richie Benaud, who died after battle against skin cancer at Sydney earlier on Friday.

The legendary Indian batsman took to his official Facebook account to express his sadness on the occasion. He was joined by several other leading members of the cricket world, most of whom prayed for his soul on microblogging website Twitter. Read: Twitter reactions to Richie Benaud’s death
Former Australia skipper Benaud was one of the most successful leaders produced by his country, not losing a single series during his tenure as the captain. Australia won 12, drew 11, lost four and tied one Test under his leadership. Benaud cemented his legacy however, with his commentating skills, starting the second chapter of his life with a stint at the BBC before moving on to Nine Network. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1961, as well as included in the Hall of Fame at the Allan Border Medal Ceremony in 2007.
