Australia have been a dominating force in cricket and one of the aspects they have excelled in is fielding. Over the years, they have had some of the best fielders who have effected some breathtaking catches. One such brilliant fielder was former captain Ricky Ponting.

During the second One-Day International (ODI) between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Ponting displayed astounding acrobatics to send back a struggling Shoaib Malik. Put into bat, Australia scored 267 on the board and then got Pakistan reeling at 32 for four. Pakistan needed a big knock from Malik, who was finding it difficult at the crease.

In the final ball of the 16th over, Malik made room and cut it through point. Ponting dived to his left, getting his palm in between the ball and the ground. He made the entire act look easy as Clint McKay picked up his second wicket. The right-arm seamer went on to pick three wickets as Australia won the match by a massive margin of 140-runs and took a 2-0 lead in the five match series.
