Virender Sehwag, once a dashing opener for India, has now become one of the most followed cricketers and celebrities on Twitter. Known for his funny, witty and straightforward way of expressing opinion, Sehwag has over the last few months wished cricketers on their birthdays, congratulated sportspersons and cheered for athletes participating in the Rio Olympics in his own way. On Sunday, he reached out to Twitter to show support for Yogeshwar Dutt, India’s star wrestler who will be on action on the final day of the Olympics. Yogeshwar, will be up against Ganzorigiin Mandakhnaran of Mongolia in the first round on Sunday, and Sehwag’s advice for him was “Dho daalo aaj”. Yogeshwar has a tough draw ahead of him, if he manages to beat Mandakhnaran. The Indian wrestler is likely to face Russia’s Soslan Ramonov. And if he manages to go past the Russian, he will be up against Uzbekistan’s Ikhtoyor Navruzov in the semi-final, who is also the reigning silver medallist.
Expectations are high from Yogeshwar after PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik secured silver and bronze medals for India in their respective sports. Sindhu, reached the final in Badminton, where she lost to Carolina Marin. Malik overcame a 0-5 deficit against Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova and claimed a bronze medal in the women’s freestyle 58kg wrestling category.
Sehwag though wished Sindhu on her Silver medal win as well, saying, “Gold wud hv been gr8but even in it they do mixing, out of 500gm Gold medal,494gm is silver, but u wud know d price of dat 6 gm best.”
Meanwhile, expectations were also high from Narsingh Yadav who was ousted from the Rio Olympics as the CAS slapped him with a four-year ban.
