In India’s 2nd innings of the 3rd Test against New Zealand in Mumbai, Rishabh Pant continued his excellent form and made a half-century. Pant reached this massive fifty in just forty-eight balls and helped India post a total of 92 runs before lunch. Just 10 balls after the lunch break, the visitors got the much-needed breakthrough as they dismissed Pant but it gave rise to a massive debate on social media.
During the 2nd over after lunch, Pant got caught by Tom Blundell . The umpire called it a not out, but the players asked for a review. The review showed the ball to be very close to Pant’s bat while also brushing his pad. The UltraEdge showed a spike when the ball passed the bat, but the controversial point was that Pant had a belief that the sound came since the ball hit the pad and not the bat.
Very clear the deflection here. There's no controversy here.
When bat is resting on the pad already, it's not going to show the spike. Impact causes spike. Anyway, clear deflection here.

Pant was then also spotted having a chat with the on-field umpires. However, the final decision was made which was against him. As a result, Pant had to return back as he made 64 runs off 57 balls.
