Supreme Court is yet to give their final verdict on the Lodha Committee recommendations and before that, Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha (RM Lodha) has said that the Indian cricketers must be given a chance to take part in administration in the country. In a recent interview, Lodha termed the way Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has ignored Supreme Court’s order as ‘exceptional’ and also said that the cricketers must be given a try as the cricket administrators in the country. Lodha recommendations included a directiveto form a cricket association to bring in clarity between the board and the players.
When asked if he has seen such a case of ignoring the order of Supreme Court in his career, Lodha told to anandabazar.com, “Not that I can think of. This is exceptional. I am still unable to believe they did not obey the order of the Supreme Court.” Lodha denied commenting on political influence or Anurag Thakur’s role. There were rumours of BCCI pushing the decision post January 3, the day chief justice TS Thakur will retire. Lodha replied to that saying Supreme Court is an institution and that the decision will not be affected by this.

“We have always given importance to cricketers. In our recommendations, we have asked to form a cricket association. We mentioned names of a few cricketers who can be included in the administration. But BCCI did not accept that. It is not like cricketers can bring in positive changes and non-cricketers cannot. But the cricketers in India have never been given an opportunity to take part in administration,” he said.
