MS Dhoni’s batting position is a strong topic to be talked about in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star player mostly came to bat below the seventh place in the final overs of matches. However, he has proven that he has the power to play as a game-changer for the team.
Dhoni came in at the fourth number against Punjab Kings when the team needed 68 runs in the final 4 overs. He scored 27 runs in 12 balls. Regarding this change in batting order, Robin Uthappa has stated that the team is going through a transition phase, and that he would live to see Dhoni at a higher order.
“I don’t think there was ever a lack of intent from MS Dhoni. Even outside the IPL, I believe Dhoni has passed on responsibility to others and given them a clear understanding of what to expect in the coming years as CSK rebuilds into a championship-contending side. That transition is happening, and while we would love to see MS bat the way he is right now, perhaps a little higher up the order, I don’t think the problem lies at the end,” said Robin Uthappa.
